Michael Mahoney is President and Chief Executive Officer of Boston Scientific Corporation and a member of the company’s board of directors. Mahoney oversees global development, marketing and sales of the company’s broad medical solutions portfolio. He assumed this role in November 2012, after serving one year as president of Boston Scientific, leading the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and Endoscopy (GI and Pulmonary) business divisions. Mahoney joined the company in October 2011, with a 24-year track record of building market-leading medical device, capital equipment and healthcare IT businesses.

Eric Tomlinson, DSc, PhD is , is Chief Innovation Officer of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and President of Wake Forest Innovation Quarter.

Dr. Tomlinson has a background as a scientific and business leader working both in early-stage and clinical stage biotechnology companies and within a global pharmaceutical company. He has built companies and teams from their inception and fund-raising – to their development of biological and small drug / device combination products and gene therapy products. He has transacted mergers of publicly traded companies and raised both private and public equity corporate financings in addition to broad-based product licensing and commercialization agreements with major pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Christina Bellinger (Panelist)

Director of Interventional Pulmonology

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center

Dr. Bellinger is faculty at Wake Forest Baptist Health in the department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. As Director of the Interventional Pulmonology Program she specializes in lung cancer diagnosis and staging, with advanced techniques using endobronchial ultrasound and navigational bronchoscopy, as well as tumor debulking, rigid bronchoscopy, cryotherapy, balloon bronchoplasty, brachytherapy, airway stents and tunneled pleural catheters. She is the lead Pulmonologist in Wake Forest’s Thoracic Oncology Program, working closely with Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Cardiothoracic Surgery in a team approach to the care of lung cancer patients. She also participates in Wake Forest’s Lung Cancer Screening Program advocating for low dose CT scans in high risk smokers to detect lung cancer early. Her current research and educational interest involve bronchoscopy and lung cancer screening.

Dr. Mark Furth (Panelist)

Dr. Furth joined Wake Forest Innovations as Innovation Leader after eight years as a researcher and senior administrator at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Furth now provides scientific leadership in advancing innovative translational programs toward clinical implementation and commercialization.

Jeremy C. Johnson (Panelist)

Jeremy began his career as Director of Business Development with an Internet Incubator, VentureWorx. He then worked as a Founder and Managing Director at Madison Keats, a life sciences strategy and consulting firm, prior to joining the team at Bourne Partners in 2006. With a B.A. degree in Economics from Georgetown University and 12 years of healthcare focused M&A and private equity experience, he currently serves as a Managing Director at Bourne Partners, managing the firm’s pharmaceutical and consumer health advisory practice. His primary focuses include M&A, licensing and select capital raise assignments.

An avid triathlete – when he’s not “running things” at Bourne – Jeremy is likely to be found running a marathon or training for his next Ironman. He also remains very active with Georgetown University: is President of the local alumni club, interviews prospective students and is a member of the board of governors of the alumni association. He and his wife recently had their third child; they currently live in the neighborhood where he grew up.

Jeremy is very active in the community and was showcased in the January 2013 edition of Society Magazine after being named a Standout Charlottean of the Year by the Charlotte Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Jeff Pepperworth (Panelist)

Jeff is President, Healthcare Network. Jeff joined Inmar in this role in June 2010.

Prior to joining Inmar, Jeff served as Senior Director of Materials Management at Cleveland Clinic, where he was responsible for the supply chain network that supports the organization’s hospitals, regional medical practices, family health centers and ambulatory surgery centers. Jeff also has held several senior leadership positions at UPS, including Senior Vice President of Global Logistics and Distribution, Vice President of Central U.S. Operations and Vice President of Transportation. He is experienced in Total Quality Management (TQM), ISO9002, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Warehouse Management Systems and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University.

Kevin McCarthy (Judge)

Global Principal Product Manager – Pulmonary

In this role Kevin is responsible for developing and executing on the strategy for Boston Scientific’s Pulmonary business.  In addition, he is responsible for the day to day management of the product portfolio of minimally invasive devices for the management of lung cancer.

Kevin joined Boston Scientific in 2005 and has held many positions with increasing responsibility within Finance and Marketing.  Kevin received his B.S. in Business Administration from Stonehill College and holds an MBA from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University.

Tradd joined Boston Scientific in January 2005 and works as a Market Development Manager. In his role, Tradd is responsible for key account development, new technology commercialization, market expansion, and business development assessments.

He has 19 years of medical device experience that include positions in management, sales, training, and marketing with Medtronic, Dentsply, and Zimmer. Tradd received his B.S. in Materials and Biomedical Science from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Gary Trendel (Judge)

Group Global Marketing Manager

Boston Scientific Endoscopy

Gary oversees a global product management team responsible for dilation, esophageal stents, duodenal stents, colonic stents, and enteral feeding.  He also leads multiple university outreach initiatives on behalf of Boston Scientific’s Marlborough, Massachusetts campus.

Gary joined Boston Scientific in 2006 and has held marketing roles in multiple divisions, including Urology & Women’s Health, Peripheral Interventions, and most recently Endoscopy.  Prior to Boston Scientific, Gary worked in various technical roles for Johnson & Johnson, DEKA Research, and BOC Gases.  Gary earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
